US Justice Department Issues 36+ Subpoenas in Alaska Senate Race Probe Involving Mary Peltola | N18G

The U.S. Justice Department has issued at least three dozen new subpoenas and document preservation requests as part of its probe into the Alaska Senate race, according to a U.S. official who confirmed the step to NBC News on Thursday. The subpoenas were sent to the Senate campaign offices of Democrat Mary Peltola and of Dan J. Sullivan, who is also running for Senate. The development came the same day Governor Mike Dunleavy announced an investigation into Peltola's campaign. The inquiry follows a report that the campaign worked with allies to recruit a candidate with the same name as incumbent Republican Dan Sullivan in an effort to draw away his votes.
