US midterms: early voting tops 50 million as Michigan race tightens

Early and mail-in voting in the US midterm elections has exceeded 53 million people, surpassing the figure from 2022, according to a tally by the University of Florida. In the 27 states that publish party-affiliation data, Democratic supporters account for 43% of voters and Republican supporters for 31.7%. In Michigan, a battleground state for the Senate, Stevens, who lost the Democratic primary to El-Sayed, endorsed Republican candidate Rogers. Trump is scheduled to hold rallies in the closely contested states of Iowa and Kansas.
