About this videoWritten by AI from the source information

Maternal and neonatal death rates have fallen worldwide since 2000, but maternal deaths have stayed flat since 2016. The video, by physician Mama Doctor Jones, looks at the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the 2023 Goalkeepers report, which focuses on maternal and neonatal health. The creator, invited by the Gates Foundation to attend the 2023 Goalkeepers conference, argues that current progress is not on track to meet the 2015 targets, but that better tools reaching the right people could change that.

In this video
  • Maternal and neonatal mortality trends since 2000
  • UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Goalkeepers 2023 report
  • Chapters cover obstetric hemorrhage, anemia with IV iron, and sepsis
  • Infant and child health and the 2023 Goalkeepers conference

Description from Mama Doctor Jones

The rates of maternal and neonatal death have been dropping around the world since 2000. That's great news - but since 2016, rates of maternal deaths have remained stagnant. We have to do better. I've been invited by the @GatesFoundation to partner with them and attend the 2023 Goalkeepers conference, which focuses on neonatal and maternal health. Goalkeepers is an organization that keeps tabs on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations in 2015 (links below), and this year's report & conference is all about maternal and neonatal health. We're not currently on track to meet the goals for maternal and neonatal mortality rates set out in 2015, but we can get there if we get the right tools to the right people. 00:00 Intro 1:34 UN Sustainable Development Goals 2:27 Maternal/Neonatal Deaths 4:49 Obstetric Hemorrhage 9:34 Anemia + IV Iron 11:44 Sepsis 13:24 Infant/Child Health 14:02 Conclusion Follow me on Instagram (@mamadoctorjones) to see what I'm learning.
