Why does Starlink’s entry into India need caution? Former Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar has explained why national security, data monitoring and counter-terrorism concerns must be addressed before Elon Musk’s satellite internet service begins operations in India. Chandrasekhar acknowledged that Starlink is “awesome technology” and represents a new era in connectivity and mobility. But he stressed that India must prioritise its national interests and ensure safety, trust and security before allowing new satellite communication services to expand. His concerns include the security implications of satellite-based internet, encrypted communications, satellite voice-over-IP services and the challenges these technologies can create for lawful interception and counter-terror operations. He also pointed to India’s experience with terrorism and insurgency as reasons for taking a cautious approach. #Starlink #RajeevChandrasekhar #ElonMusk #StarlinkIndia #SatelliteInternet #NationalSecurity #SpaceX #CounterTerrorism #IndiaTech n18oc_therightstand
