After years of being “one of the guys” in male-dominated corporate environments, Veroniek Vermeulen discovered that fitting in on the outside meant abandoning herself on the inside. Through years of inner work, she learned that becoming yourself is not a soft skill but a strategic leadership advantage. As she began to see the system around her more clearly, she noticed the brilliant colleagues it was quietly pushing out: not for lack of ambition, but because they could not be themselves. Organisations, she argues, do not become future-ready by upgrading technology, but by upgrading how safe people feel to show up as themselves. Veroniek Vermeulen is the founder and CEO of Silatha, a health-tech company dedicated to transforming how workplaces support women’s health and authentic leadership. An engineer by training with a background in male-dominated corporates, she combines rigorous business experience with years of inner work in monasteries. Her work centers on creating psychologically safe workplaces where women can lead from their full selves, instead of fitting into outdated systems that ignore their bodies, emotions, and life transitions such as endometriosis, fertility, and menopause. In her TEDx Talk in Groningen, “Becoming yourself is a leadership advantage,” Veroniek shares how missiles over Qatar, corporate pressure, and women’s untold health stories led her to redefine leadership and build Silatha as a catalyst for more human, future-ready organizations. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
