Descripción de TEDx Talks

Fate whispers to the warrior, 'You cannot withstand the storm.' The warrior whispers back, 'I am the storm.' When the Indian Armed Forces opened their doors to women in 1992, Wing Commander Anupama Joshi (Retd.) was among the first pioneering women to step into the grueling, male-dominated world of the Air Force Academy. But earning the uniform was only the beginning of a much larger, invisible war—a battle for equal opportunity, dignity, and recognition. From facing societal skepticism and administrative ad-hocism to fighting a historic legal battle in the Delhi High Court, Officer Joshi shares her journey of fighting for Permanent Commission for women officers in India's military. In this inspiring and deeply personal talk, she unpacks the power of perseverance, the true meaning of military sacrifice, and how courage—coupled with conviction—can ignite systemic change. Her story is a testament to the fact that fighting for equality is not a solitary war, but a crusade that breaks ceilings for generations to come. She joined the Indian Air force in 1993, when the government opened its doors to women in the armed forces. She is from the first batch of women to join the armed forces. She served in major Air Force bases. She was the founder and CEO of a financial company, Sahastradhara Khetriya Gramin Financial Service, based out of Dehradun. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
