Congress leader Rahul Gandhi met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president C. Joseph Vijay over lunch at his Neelankarai residence. The meeting came shortly after TVK secured victories in both the Madurantakam and Dharapuram Assembly bypolls, giving Vijay’s party an early electoral boost. The results have added momentum to TVK’s political position, while also putting the party’s relationship with its allies and the opposition landscape in Tamil Nadu under the spotlight. The meeting was significant because it was the first interaction between Rahul Gandhi and Vijay since the TVK-led Secular Social Justice Victory alliance was formally named and TVK joined the INDIA bloc. The leaders’ meeting was seen as an opportunity to reinforce ties and discuss the political road ahead. The interaction also comes amid a wider debate over electoral-roll revisions and demands for Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation. Both Congress and TVK have been involved in the broader opposition mobilisation, although the parties’ positions and priorities in Tamil Nadu politics remain important to watch. #RahulGandhi #CMVijay #TVK #TamilNaduPolitics #Congress #INDIABloc #Madurantakam #Dharapuram #BypollResults n18oc_breakingnews
