A major political controversy has erupted after the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet approved a proposal to rename Noida International Airport at Jewar as Narendra Modi International Airport, Noida-Jewar. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced the decision, citing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s role in advancing the airport project and the milestone of 25 years of continuous service as head of a government. The proposal has triggered a sharp political response, with Congress leader Pawan Khera reportedly drawing a comparison with Hitler. The exchange has reignited questions over political symbolism, the naming of public infrastructure after living leaders, and the changing positions of political parties on such decisions. The controversy also raises an interesting question about political role reversal. The BJP has previously argued in favour of naming airports after the cities they serve while dedicating terminals to prominent personalities. The proposed Jewar airport name marks a departure from that earlier position, putting the party’s past arguments back in the spotlight. #JewarAirport #NarendraModi #YogiAdityanath #PawanKhera n18oc_plainspeak CNN-News18 is your trusted source for breaking news, updates, and in-depth analysis from around the world.
