Description de Global News

Two former premiers, who were on opposite ends of the political spectrum in Alberta, united Tuesday to support keeping the province from separating from Canada. Jason Kenney and Rachel Notley were at the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce and were also joined by Doug Griffiths, former member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta and the three made a case for why Alberta should remain in Canada. Kenney was premier under the United Conservative Party, defeating Notley’s NDP government in 2019. "A country is a lot more than a balance sheet. It's a lot more than a set of fiscal transfers or economic arrangements or environmental policy. Canada, is a community of mutual obligations, previous generations and future generations. And whatever frustrations we may have, whatever imperfections our country may have, we still have one of the greatest countries in the world, one of the most desirable places to live and raise a family," Kenny said. The event comes days before Albertans vote on 10 questions in a referendum on Monday.
