Description de TEDx Talks

Colour and creativity have the power to shape how we feel, think, and connect with the world around us. Drawing on experience as an illustrator and research into colour psychology, this talk explores how colour can influence mood, wellbeing, and aspiration. Too often, the spaces we live, work, and learn in prioritise function over inspiration, affecting our sense of possibility. This talk argues that colour and creativity are not luxuries but essential tools for building healthier, more connected communities. Through public art, education, and thoughtful design, we can create environments that inspire confidence, support mental wellbeing, and foster creativity. For Suffolk, investing in creative expression means strengthening community identity, inspiring future generations, and creating places people are proud to call home. Lily Hammond is a Suffolk-based illustrator and the founder of Uwu Studio ( meaning colourful studio in her grandmothers native tongue) , known for her bold, colourful work that celebrates pattern, nature, and the beauty of everyday details. After graduating with a First Class Honours degree in Illustration in 2020, Lily has spent over five years working as a professional artist, collaborating with organisations including the BBC, Amnesty International, and the Migration Museum, as well as local theatres, libraries, and educational institutions. Alongside her creative practice, Lily has a particular interest in the relationship between colour and wellbeing, exploring how art can positively impact mood, confidence, and community. Through murals, workshops, and public engagement, she aims to bring more colour, creativity, and joy into everyday spaces across Suffolk and beyond. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
