La mère de la scientifique russe Daria Shipilova rejette l'hypothèse d'un accident de laboratoire lié à un tube à essai brisé. Les autorités évoquent une pneumonie de cause inconnue, et les liens avec la peste restent non confirmés.

THEY SIMPLY LET MY DAUGHTER DIE.’ The mother of Russian scientist Daria Shipilova has challenged reports surrounding her daughter’s mysterious death, rejecting claims that a broken test tube at a plague research laboratory may have led to an infection. Shipilova, 28, worked at the Irkutsk Anti-Plague Research Institute in Siberia. She fell ill and died in hospital on October 2. Russian authorities have attributed her death to pneumonia of unknown cause, while reports of a possible plague infection and a laboratory accident remain unconfirmed. Reuters has reported that authorities said tests among her contacts detected no plague cases. The World Health Organization has called for more information from Russia to clarify the conflicting accounts. Her mother, Svetlana Shipilova, has questioned the test-tube theory and accused officials of failing to save her daughter. Her allegations have intensified scrutiny of the case and raised questions about the circumstances surrounding the scientist’s final days. In this report, we examine the mother’s claims, the official explanation, the reported laboratory accident and the public-health precautions taken after Shipilova’s death. What is known, what remains unverified, and why is the WHO seeking further clarity?
