SUPREME COURT QUESTIONS DELHI METRO CLOSURE PLAN: The Supreme Court of India has raised serious concerns over proposed restrictions at 57 Delhi Metro stations ahead of the October 10 protest in the national capital. The Court has asked authorities to reconsider the measures, highlighting the difficulties ordinary citizens could face while travelling from the National Capital Region to Delhi. The controversy erupted after Delhi Police sought the closure of entry and exit gates at 57 metro stations, citing security concerns ahead of a planned protest at Jantar Mantar. The proposed restrictions could affect daily commuters, office-goers, students and people relying on public transport to reach essential destinations. During the hearing, the Supreme Court emphasised the need to balance security requirements and the right to protest with the rights of ordinary citizens to access essential public facilities. The bench questioned the potential hardship caused by broad restrictions and called for a more considered approach. #SupremeCourt #DelhiMetro #DelhiNews #Commuters #IndiaNews #SupremeCourtOfIndia CNN-News18 is your trusted source for breaking news, updates, and in-depth analysis from around the world.
