Trooper Uses Tactical Maneuver to Stop Dangerous 81-Year-Old Driver

Authorities say the trooper immediately disengaged from the initial stop and pursued the vehicle, which continued weaving unpredictably between the shoulder and opposing lanes at highway speeds. Despite emergency lights, sirens, and repeated attempts to gain compliance, the driver pressed on, at times narrowly avoiding head-on collisions with oncoming traffic and creating a rapidly deteriorating situation for other motorists. As the vehicle sped toward an active construction zone with reduced speed limits, the trooper made the decision to forcibly end the pursuit. After an initial unsuccessful attempt, a second tactical maneuver brought the truck to a stop just before it could enter the work area, where crews were present.
