Is "Free Birth" empowering or a dangerous gamble? 🩺 In today’s video, we are diving into the controversial Free Birth Society and the dangerous 'unassisted' or 'wild' birth its founders advocate for. As an OB/GYN, my goal is always to support informed consent and bodily autonomy, but the misinformation being spread by some natural or 'free' birth influencers like Emilee Saldaya and Yolande Norris-Clark is reaching a breaking point. We’re discussing the medical risks of birthing without a midwife or doctor, the reality of neonatal emergencies, and why the "aesthetic" of home birth you see on Instagram doesn't always show the full picture. In this video, we cover: 🏠 The difference between Home Birth vs. Free Birth. 👩🏼‍⚕️ Common myths about unassisted pregnancy and prenatal care. 🕵🏻‍♀️ Why the Free Birth Society is under fire from the medical community. 🤰🏽 Real-world risks of shoulder dystocia, postpartum hemorrhage, and neonatal respiratory distress. 🏩 How the medical system may have pushed women towards this dangerous movement The Free Birth movement often claims that "women’s bodies just know what to do," but as a doctor, I’ve seen the complications that no amount of "intuition" can fix.
