Is Trump’s immigration crackdown an opportunity for India? As the U.S. tightens restrictions on skilled foreign workers and suspends major technology firms from the PERM green card programme, questions are growing about America’s ability to attract and retain global talent. The affected companies include Microsoft, Adobe, Infosys, TCS, Wipro, HCLTech, Cognizant and Capgemini. The move does not directly cancel existing H-1B visas. On #TakeThree, Indian-American technology entrepreneur and academic Vivek Wadhwa (@wadhwa) joins the conversation to discuss whether America’s increasingly restrictive immigration policies could redirect talent, investment and opportunities towards India. Wadhwa highlights India’s remarkable talent pool and argues that the country must recognise its potential, improve opportunities at home and build an environment where young Indians can thrive without having to move abroad. Can India turn America’s immigration crackdown into a long-term economic advantage?
