Descrição de Global News

Albertans will head to the polls Monday to decide whether the province should remain in Canada or hold a second, binding referendum on whether to quit Confederation. Premier Danielle Smith officially marked her ballot in the province's separation referendum on Wednesday, the first day of advance voting — and it was for a united Canada. Smith encouraged fellow Albertans to vote to stay in Canada, but urged support for the other nine questions. The other nine questions deal with proposals Smith has put forward for immigration and constitutional reform. Her government seeks approval from Albertans to seek more control over immigration, including new rules for newcomers. They also seek approval from Albertans to pursue working with other provinces to change the Constitution and devolve more power to provinces.
