We’ve all seen it - some of our favorite (and least favorite) influencers these days talk a LOT about their disdain for hormonal birth control (especially the pill). And not just because they personally don’t like it, no - they want you to ditch the pill too. Is there any truth to what they say? From questioning BC’s effect on fertility to basically calling it a pill that’s poisoned a generation to pushing menstrual cycle tracking, how accurate are these claims? Well, as a board-certified ObGyn, I have thoughts. Thoughts about how hormonal birth control gets an unfair reputation, but also how my fellow healthcare providers DO, perhaps, push it a little hard sometimes in cases where it isn’t needed or wanted.
