What do you see when you look in the mirror? And more importantly, how much of what you see is shaped by your own beliefs and the judgments of others? In this talk, Dr. Anmol Chugh explores how appearance-based judgments can influence the way we see ourselves. Through examples from his work as a plastic surgeon, he highlights the difference between changing how we look and changing how we feel about ourselves. A physical transformation may improve a feature, but it cannot automatically create confidence, happiness or a sense of self-worth. He introduces the idea of refining your reflection and shares a simple framework built around the five vowels: Accept, Explore, Impact, Own and Uplift. His message is that self-worth is not something we need to earn. It begins with accepting who we are, discovering our potential and being kind to ourselves and others. Dr. Anmol Chugh is a board-certified plastic and cosmetic surgeon with expertise in facial and breast surgeries. As a specialist in aesthetics and plastic surgery, he combines a methodical approach, strong research background, and surgical expertise to help patients achieve desired outcomes. Trained at leading medical institutions in India and Australia, he is also the Chief Editor of PLASTICOS, an online magazine for plastic surgeons. His work reflects a commitment to advancing surgical practice through research, clinical excellence, and knowledge sharing. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
