The UAE Attorney General says the 29-year-old Omani co-pilot allegedly planned a suicide attack targeting the passenger terminal at Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport. Investigators reportedly traced signs of his radicalisation to 2017, when he was studying in Australia, and said he was inspired by the September 11, 2001 attacks. According to the investigation, the co-pilot allegedly used two earlier flights to familiarise himself with the route and airport before attempting to seize control of the aircraft. He reportedly attacked the captain with a cockpit emergency axe. The injured captain resisted, while other crew members and passengers helped subdue the suspect.
