South African judge and former UN human rights commissioner Navi Pillay has won the Nobel Peace Prize 2026. Pillay has been recognised for her "efforts to promote peace and international law", the Norwegian Nobel Committee said. She has become the fifth South African winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, with former President Nelson Mandela among past winners.
