xecution on camera? The Pentagon is facing mounting scrutiny over plans to livestream the execution of Nidal Malik Hasan, the former US Army psychiatrist convicted in the 2009 Fort Hood shooting that killed 13 people and injured 32 others. US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has said the execution by firing squad should be public, arguing that people need to understand the consequences of attacking US service members. The execution is scheduled for December 3, 2026, at Fort Hood, Texas. The unprecedented proposal has triggered a fierce debate over capital punishment, government transparency, human dignity and the ethics of broadcasting an execution. Vice President JD Vance has expressed doubts about the plan, while religious leaders, human rights advocates and lawmakers have raised concerns. Would a livestream serve public accountability—or turn state punishment into a spectacle? Could legal challenges or streaming-platform rules affect whether the broadcast goes ahead? #Pentagon #NidalHasan #FortHood #Execution #DeathPenalty #PeteHegseth #JDVance #USPolitics #HumanRights #CapitalPunishment CNN TV CNN-News18 is your trusted source for breaking news, updates, and in-depth analysis from around the world.
