SATELLITE INTERNET AND NATIONAL SECURITY: Security concerns surrounding satellite internet are drawing renewed attention in Jammu and Kashmir, where reliable communications and counter-terror operations remain critical to the security landscape. The concerns come amid a wider controversy over Elon Musk’s Starlink and the regulatory conditions required before satellite broadband services can launch commercially in India. Security and policy experts have raised questions about network control, data access, signal coverage near sensitive border areas and the ability of Indian authorities to enforce security requirements. These issues are particularly significant in Jammu and Kashmir, where communication technologies can have implications for surveillance, intelligence gathering and counter-terror operations. The wider Starlink debate has intensified as India examines security clearances and operational requirements for satellite communication providers. The government has maintained that companies must comply with Indian regulations and security protocols before launching commercial services. Starlink’s entry has also triggered a public debate over national interests, competition and the regulation of foreign-controlled communications infrastructure. #Starlink #JammuAndKashmir #NationalSecurity CNN-News18 is your trusted source for breaking news, updates, and in-depth analysis from around the world.
