Nesta palestra do TEDxMaiduguri, a servidora pública nigeriana Hon. A fala convida o público a examinar o medo, a tradição, o luto e a autodúvida.

Descrição de TEDx Talks

In this deeply personal and powerfully reflective talk, Hon. Fatima Lamisula invites the audience to rethink what a “horizon” truly is. Drawing from her own journey, she reveals how the most challenging horizons are not the distant mountains or faraway dreams we imagine, but the invisible beliefs that quietly limit who we think we’re allowed to become. With honesty and grace, she shares how she once confused sacrifice with disappearance—celebrating everyone else’s growth while neglecting her own. A turning point came when she realized she was grieving the woman she still had the potential to become. That awakening led her to confront the internal stories that had shaped her life and to step boldly into public service. Through vivid storytelling, she highlights how countless people—women, young leaders, entire communities—live beneath these unseen boundaries. She argues that before systems fail, stories fail, and that leadership begins the moment someone refuses to believe a limiting narrative. Hon. Fatima challenges us to consider the horizons we pass on to the next generation. Will we widen a child’s sense of possibility, or quietly teach her to shrink it? Ultimately, she offers a powerful invitation: to question the invisible horizons of fear, tradition, grief, or self‑doubt, and to walk toward them with courage. Because beyond those horizons is not a different life—it is a fuller version of the life already waiting for us. A talk for anyone standing at the edge of their own story, The Woman Beyond the Horizon reminds us that the horizon is not an ending, but the place where our next beginning waits. Hon.
