Okinawa Prefectural Assembly Passes Protest Resolution and Written Opinion Following Arrest of U.S. Marine over Woman's Death (October 9, 2026)

The Okinawa Prefectural Assembly passed a protest resolution and written opinion by majority vote, not unanimously, after a U.S. Marine was arrested on suspicion of robbery-murder. The documents call for revision of the Japan-U.S. Status of Forces Agreement, an apology and compensation for the victim's family, and full cooperation with the investigation. 女性を殺害して財布などを奪った強盗殺人の疑いでアメリカ海兵隊員の男が逮捕された事件を受け、沖縄県議会は日米地位協定の改定などを求める抗議決議と意見書を賛成多数で可決しました。 　抗議決議と意見書では、事件について「軍の規律保持や隊員教育の限界を示している」と指摘したうえで「組織として機能していない」と批判しています。 　そして、被害者遺族への謝罪や補償をはじめ、捜査への全面協力や日米地位協定の改定などを日米両政府に求めています。 　採決では、無所属の会会派の2人が文案に反対したことから、抗議決議と意見書は全会一致ではなく賛成多数で可決されました。 [テレ朝NEWS] https://news.tv-asahi.co.jp
