In this TEDx presentation, Lucas Oliveira reflects on the process of grief and how love endures even after the loss of a loved one. The speaker shares the pain caused by his grandfather's passing, a central figure who taught him everything from tying his shoes to the importance of active listening, to illustrate the heavy silence and heartache that accompany loss. He references psychological insights to explain that grief does not occur in a linear way, as triggers like songs, places, or specific dates can unexpectedly resurface intense emotions while the brain learns to rebuild life without that person's physical presence. Lucas invites the audience to understand that the goal of grief is not to forget those we lost, but to learn how to live with their absence. He reminds us that missing someone does not erase love, allowing painful memories to gradually transform into warmth and ensuring that the memory of those we cherish continues to guide us.
