Furuya calls for Japan-Taiwan cooperation for Taiwan Strait stability; 27 Diet members visit Taiwan, meet President Lai on National Day (11 Oct 2026)

Keiji Furuya, a Liberal Democratic Party member of the House of Representatives, and fellow lawmakers held a press conference during their visit to Taiwan. Furuya stressed the importance of Japan and Taiwan working together to keep the Taiwan Strait peaceful. He said the delegation included 27 cross-party Diet members. He also attended the National Day ceremony and met President Lai Ching-te. He highlighted cooperation with partners such as the United States.

自民党の古屋衆議院議員らが訪問先の台湾で会見を開き、台湾海峡の平和のために日本と台湾が連携する重要性を訴えました。 自民党　古屋圭司衆議院議員 「27人の超党派の国会議員が（訪問に）参加した。恐らく国会開会中にこれだけ多くの議員が訪問するのはほとんど例がない」 　「日本・台湾友好議員連盟」の会長の古屋氏はメンバーとともに台湾を訪れ、10日の「双十節」を祝う式典に出席したほか、頼清徳総統と面会しました。 　古屋氏は会見で、台湾海峡の平和と安全を守るため、日本と台湾、アメリカなどの連携の重要性を強調しました。 　また、台湾との産業面の連携について問われ、「極めて重要だ。台湾が力を持つ半導体やドローンなどの分野でさらに連携が可能だ」との見方を示しました。 [テレ朝NEWS] https://news.tv-asahi.co.jp
