Bear Warnings in Akiruno, Tokyo, as Autumn Hiking Season Peaks

As the autumn hiking season reaches its peak, safety awareness activities were held around trailheads in Akiruno, Tokyo, focusing on bear sightings. In front of JR Musashi-Itsukaichi Station, information was provided on how to respond when encountering a bear and on preventing mountain accidents. Police say around 70 bear-related sightings have been reported this year in the Itsukaichi police area, including a report on the 30th near the town office. Hikers were also urged to submit hiking plans before entering the mountains.

秋の登山シーズンがピークとなるなか、東京・あきる野市の登山口の周辺では、クマの出没などへの注意喚起が行われました。 　JR武蔵五日市駅前では、クマと遭遇した際の対応や山岳事故防止への啓発活動が行われました。 　警視庁によりますと、10月から11月にかけての登山者は年間でも特に多いとされています。 　五日市署管内では今年、すでにおよそ70頭のクマに関連する目撃情報が入っていて、直近では、30日に、「役場近くでクマを見かけた」という内容の通報があったということです。 　また、山岳事故が多いことから「登山届の提出」も呼び掛けられました。 五日市警察署　田北卓也警備課長 「『登山届』につきましては、山に入る際、もしも遭難などされた場合に、しっかり警察の方でその方を探せるようにお願いしているものです。『登山届』、山に入る場合には出していただくようお願いしています」 [テレ朝NEWS] https://news.tv-asahi.co.jp
