Koyoshi River flooding in Akita: Level 5 flood emergency warning

The Japan Meteorological Agency has issued a Level 5 flood emergency warning after flooding was reported on the Koyoshi River in Yurihonjo, Akita Prefecture. The warning was announced at 8:15 p.m. on the 21st. The flooding occurred on the left bank near Morinoko in Yurihonjo, and surrounding areas are already inundated. Residents are urged to move immediately to higher ground that is less likely to flood, since reaching an evacuation site may not be safe.

気象庁は21日午後8時15分、秋田県由利本荘市を流れる子吉川で氾濫が発生したとして「レベル5氾濫特別警報」を発表しました。 　氾濫が発生した場所は由利本荘市森子地先付近の左岸です。最大級の警戒が必要です。 　すでに周囲が浸水し、避難場所まで安全に移動できない恐れがあるため、避難場所に向かうことにこだわらず、少しでも浸水しにくい高い場所に移動するなど今すぐ身の安全を確保するようにして下さい。
