Agriculture Minister Bube responds to report on alleged illegal donations

Japan's Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Minister Bube apologized over a Bunshun Online report alleging that he received illegal donations from a company holding public works contracts. He said he was not aware at the time of the donation that the company had received such work. He stated that he had instructed a prompt check of the facts and either a refund or a correction of the political funds report. The report says a party branch he heads may have violated the Public Offices Election Act in connection with the 2024 general election.
