Pesticide residues above limits found in Chinese okra; first inspection order issued

Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare has issued its first inspection order after repeated detections of pesticides above permitted levels in imported Chinese okra. Chinese okra and its processed products will now be subject to mandatory inspection at import. Three shipments that arrived between August and October were found with pesticide levels above the standard, the highest being 24 times the limit. The report states that none of these products had been distributed on the market.
