The power of community-based solutions| Muhammad Musbahu Goni | TEDxJimeta
A National Health Fellow recounts an encounter at a primary healthcare centre in Potiskum, Nigeria, where a pregnant woman was nearly turned away at night because of a shortage of staff. The talk places this within Nigeria's high share of global maternal deaths and argues that ordinary people can start change locally by asking questions and mobilising community resources. The speaker presents round-the-clock safety at the clinic as an example of a solution that does not depend on a senior title, a large budget or distant directives. The talk was given at TEDxJimeta, an independently organised TEDx event. The description also outlines the speaker's background in technology, community building and youth mentoring in Northern Nigeria.
