Crime victims call for support: Family attack survivor speaks at Shinjuku event

An event was held at Shinjuku Station to promote victim support during Crime Victims Month, which began on the first of the month. The Tokyo Victim Support Center and the Metropolitan Police Department organized the event, where Hideko Ito, a victim of a family attack in Yamagata Prefecture 20 years ago, spoke. Ito described how she has continued to receive support since moving to Tokyo after the incident. Police urged the public to learn about victim support and consider what they can do.

今月1日から始まった「犯罪被害者月間」に合わせて、新宿駅の構内で被害者支援について周知するイベントが行われ、犯罪被害者が支援の必要性を訴えました。 　今月1日から来月1日までは「犯罪被害者月間」です。4日、被害者支援都民センターと警視庁が周知イベントを行いました。 　イベントでは、20年前に山形県で起きた一家殺傷事件の被害者が登壇し、被害者支援への理解を求めました。 伊藤秀子さん（75） 「皆さん、平等に授かった命を大事にしてください。そして、家族を大切にしてください」 　伊藤秀子さんは2006年、山形県の自宅に刃物を持って押し入ってきた男に夫と長男を殺害され、自身も右手などに大けがをしました。 　事件後、故郷の山形県から東京都に移住をした頃から支援センターの支援を受けてきたと話します。 伊藤秀子さん 「私は手のリハビリとして、この服を作ったりしてますが、2人の為に頑張りたいと思っています。そして、自助グループの皆さんに励ましていただいて本当にうれしく思っています」 　警視庁は、キャンペーンを契機として犯罪被害者支援を知ってもらい、自分たちに何ができるかを考えるきっかけにして欲しいと呼び掛けています。 [テレ朝NEWS] https://news.tv-asahi.co.jp
