US midterm elections: China says agreed leaders' understandings will be implemented

After the Republican Party, the governing party in the United States, lost in the midterm elections, China's Foreign Ministry responded at a press briefing. Spokesperson Mao Ning said Beijing intends to firmly implement the common understanding reached by the two countries' leaders. Mao described the midterms as a US domestic matter while stating that existing bilateral agreements would be carried forward. A China-US leaders' summit is also scheduled in two weeks.
