Emperor and Empress watch traditional Yosakoi dance at National Culture Festival in Kochi

The Emperor and Empress of Japan attended the opening ceremonies of the National Culture Festival and the National Disabled Persons' Art and Culture Festival in Kochi Prefecture. At the start of the ceremony, a moment of silence was observed for victims of the Kumamoto earthquake and the Chiba floods. Afterward, the couple watched the Kochi-born Naruko Yosakoi dance and met four performers.

天皇皇后両陛下は訪問先の高知県で、伝統の「よさこい」をご覧になりました。 　両陛下は25日午後2時半ごろ、「国民文化祭」と「全国障害者芸術・文化祭」の開会式に出席されました。 　冒頭、熊本地震や千葉豪雨などの犠牲者に対し黙祷（もくとう）が捧げられ、陛下は「復旧・復興が進むことを心から願っております」と述べられました。 　また、文化祭については「新たな文化の創造につながっていくことを期待します」などとあいさつされました。 　式典の後、両陛下は高知発祥の「よさこい鳴子踊り」を鑑賞し、披露するなどした4人と交流されました。 　26日は伝統工芸品の和紙の展示や障害者作品展などを鑑賞し、帰京される予定です。 [テレ朝NEWS] https://news.tv-asahi.co.jp
