The Journey of Overcoming the Fear of Looking Stupid | Nisa Sofiya Maryam | TEDxCRIBS Youth
A student reflects on the moment she knew the answer in class but stayed silent, because the fear of being heard getting it wrong felt stronger than the risk of a mistake. The talk looks at how stepping outside one's comfort zone can help build confidence and open expression. The speaker, a tenth-grade student with interests in drawing, editing and drums, presents it as a TEDx talk given at an independently organized local event.
In this video- Fear of looking foolish in front of others
- Stepping outside one's comfort zone as a path to growth
- Building confidence and public speaking skills
- Talk given at an independently organized TEDx event
I’ve been thinking… I’m sure that I am not the only one who has felt this situation. A situation where I had the answer. I was pretty sure I had the answer. But I didn't raise my hand. Because there was something more frightening than getting the answer wrong. It was everyone hearing me get it wrong. I am a tenth-grade student who enjoys challenging myself and exploring new things. My hobbies include drawing, editing, and playing the drums, which allow me to express my creativity in different ways. I believe that growth comes from stepping outside my comfort zone and being willing to try new experiences. By participating as a TEDx speaker, I hope to build my confidence, improve my public speaking skills, and learn to express my thoughts and ideas more openly This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
