Newborn boy's body found in sea in Hofu, police probe possible murder and abandonment

The body of a newborn boy was found floating in the sea off Hofu City in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan. Anglers reported it to the police by emergency call on the afternoon of the 3rd, and officers went to the site. The body was unclothed and showed no obvious external injuries, and it is believed to have been dead for several days. Police are considering the possibility of murder and abandonment of the body and will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death and identity.

山口県防府市で海に浮かんでいる生後間もない男の子の遺体が見つかりました。警察は殺人や死体遺棄事件を視野に捜査しています。 　警察によりますと3日午後3時半すぎ、防府市西浦の漁港で釣りをしていた人らから「赤ちゃんが海に浮いている」と110番通報がありました。 　警察が駆け付けたところ、沿岸から約20メートル離れた海に生後間もない男の子の遺体が浮いていたということです。 　遺体は着衣のない裸の状態で目立った外傷はなく、死亡してから数日が経過しているとみられています。 　警察は今後、司法解剖を行い死因や身元の特定を進めるとともに何者かが殺害して遺体を海に遺棄した可能性もあるとして捜査しています。 [テレ朝NEWS] https://news.tv-asahi.co.jp
