Mie mayor found to have abused power against staff; committee moves to file complaint over false testimony

A special committee of the Iga City Council in Mie Prefecture has concluded that Mayor Toshihisa Inamori engaged in power harassment against city employees. The alleged remarks were made in December two years ago, when he reportedly instructed staff to terminate a contract between the city and a private company. The committee's report, released on the 23rd, also includes a plan to file a complaint under the Local Autonomy Act over alleged false testimony. The mayor said the findings were based on a one-sided discussion with a predetermined conclusion and were highly unjust.
