Japan Launches Disaster Prevention Agency as Command Center for Disasters; Minister Hosono Aims for World-Leading Disaster Preparedness

Japan's new Disaster Prevention Agency, established on November 2, will serve as the command center for disaster response. Its responsibilities include promoting advance disaster prevention and strengthening the government's disaster response system. The newly appointed Disaster Prevention Minister Hosono, who also holds the Reconstruction portfolio, said he wants to draw on lessons from the Great East Japan Earthquake. The agency's staff will increase from 220 to 352.

災害対策の司令塔となる防災庁が2日に設置されました。事前防災の推進を含めた災害時の体制強化を担います。 　新たに就任する細野防災大臣は、復興大臣を兼務し「東日本大震災の経験を生かしたい」と強調しました。 細野防災大臣 「国難級の大規模災害においても国民の生命・身体・財産を守り抜くため、災害対応の司令塔として我が国の防災体制を強化し、世界一の防災大国を目指すといたしました」 　防災庁では、これまで内閣府で業務を担ってきた220人の定員を352人に引き上げます。 　防災庁の設置は石破政権から準備が進められ、トイレやベッドの確保のほか、栄養バランスを踏まえた食事など「被災者の良好な生活環境の確保」を新たな理念に掲げます。 　また、細野大臣は「緊急要請」として水や食料に加え、携帯用トイレの備蓄などを国民に呼び掛けました。 　防災庁には各省庁の縦割りを排して、本当に被災者のためになる対策の構築が求められることになります。 [テレ朝NEWS] https://news.tv-asahi.co.jp
