Pedestrian hit-and-run in Chiba: 66-year-old transport worker arrested after man dies (Kamagaya, Nov. 2, 2026)

A man in his 50s was struck by a light truck while crossing at a crosswalk in Kamagaya, Chiba Prefecture, and the driver then fled, police said. A 66-year-old transport worker was arrested on suspicion of the hit-and-run. The injured man was taken to hospital unconscious with head injuries and later died. The suspect reportedly went to a nearby convenience store and reported the incident himself, and he partly denies the charge, saying he did not intend to flee. Police are examining the circumstances.

軽トラックを運転し横断歩道を渡っていた男性をはねてけがをさせそのまま逃走したとして、60代の男が逮捕されました。男性はその後、死亡しました。 　運送業の廣岡明彦容疑者（66）は2日午前5時すぎ、千葉県鎌ケ谷市北初富の路上で、軽トラックを運転し横断歩道を渡っていた50代くらいの男性をはねてけがをさせ、そのまま逃走した疑いが持たれています。 　男性は頭から血を流していて意識不明の状態で病院に搬送されましたが、その後、死亡しました。 　警察によりますと、廣岡容疑者は事件後、現場近くのコンビニ店まで移動し、自ら通報していました。 　取り調べに対して「事故を起こしたことは間違いないが、通報したので逃げたつもりはない」と容疑を一部否認しています。 　また、乗っていた車について社用車だと話していて、警察は当時の状況を詳しく調べています。 [テレ朝NEWS] https://news.tv-asahi.co.jp
