Trump “is the most family friendly president”: Katie Zacharia, new White House press secretary

Katie Zacharia has been introduced as the White House's sixth press secretary for the Trump administration, replacing Karoline Leavitt, who departed in late August. Zacharia previously worked briefly at Trump Media & Technology Group and was a spokesperson at the Department of Homeland Security. In her first remarks as press secretary, she described her goals, said Trump is "his own best spokesperson," and commented on her family and on Kimberly Guilfoyle's position as U.S. Ambassador to Greece.

Following the departure of Karoline Leavitt in late August, the White House debuted its sixth and latest press secretary for the Trump administration Tuesday: Katie Zacharia. Zacharia briefly worked at the Trump Media & Technology Group before being chosen for the position, and had a stint as spokesperson at the Department of Homeland Security. Asked her goals in the new position, Zacharia said, "I get to do what I was doing on the outside already, which was hoping to amplify, multiply and expand upon President Trump's incredible agenda for the American people. My goal is to be able to communicate that in complete tandem with the president." Despite now serving as the official White House spokesperson, Zacharia said Trump "is his own best spokesperson and will absolutely be leading the way.” Regarding if Trump had a “timeline” for firing Kimberly Guilfoyle – something the president suggested he was considering on Monday – Zacharia revealed the U.S. Ambassador to Greece was already asked to resign, adding, “she has been a wonderful asset to the team and we wish her well.” Asked about her own family — after Leavitt announced her resignation was to spend more time with her family — Zacharia made her four children and husband, who live in California, were her "priority," noting, "President Trump is the most family friendly president we've ever had...
