LDP calls for urgent measures against cyberattacks (October 21, 2026)

Following a series of unauthorized access incidents at companies, Japan's Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) has compiled measures against cyberattacks. The draft proposal, titled "The Eve of a Cyber Emergency," points to the need for countermeasures against saturation attacks, in which AI automatically exploits system vulnerabilities. The proposal is also expected to include new personnel and salary systems for government agencies to hire private-sector experts. The party plans to complete internal procedures on the 22nd and hand the proposal to the Prime Minister's Office within the week.
