First trial over Molotov cocktail attack near LDP headquarters

A first trial was held for Usuda Atsunobu (51), who is charged with attempted murder and other offenses over an incident two years ago in which a Molotov cocktail was thrown in front of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) headquarters and a car crashed into a fence at the Prime Minister's Office. At the hearing, Usuda did not state his plea on the charges. The defense announced it will contest all charges. In court, he took out a Hinomaru flag, tore its paper and threw it away.

おととし自民党本部に火炎瓶が投げ込まれ、総理官邸の柵に車が突っ込んだ事件で、殺人未遂の罪などに問われた男は初公判で認否について答えませんでした。 　臼田敦伸被告（51）はおととし10月に、自民党本部前で機動隊員らに火炎瓶を投げつけたほか、総理官邸の柵に車で突っ込み、車に火炎瓶を投げて火をつけた殺人未遂や火炎瓶処罰法違反罪などに問われています。 　2日の初公判で、臼田被告は起訴内容の認否について答えませんでした。 　一方で「国旗国歌法に基づいて正確に作った日章旗です」と話し、日章旗を取り出して紙を破いたり、投げ捨てたりしました。 　また、弁護側はすべての罪について争う方針を示しました。 [テレ朝NEWS] https://news.tv-asahi.co.jp
