Figure Skating GP Series Canada: Mao Shimada (18) Wins Debut Event

At the second leg of the Figure Skating Grand Prix Series in Canada, 18-year-old Mao Shimada, first after the short program, won the women's free skate. She landed a triple Axel at the start of her routine and, although a quad toe loop was under-rotated, she landed it. She completed all remaining jumps and finished with her signature fast spin. In her Grand Prix Series debut, she earned the highest score of the season worldwide and claimed her first title.
