Face-to-face ID verification with My Number card now on Android

Japan's Digital Agency has started offering a feature that lets Android smartphones hold a My Number card for in-person identity and age verification. Digital Minister Furukawa said users no longer need to carry the physical card and can use biometric authentication in place of entering a PIN. Android users could already use the card for online procedures through My Number Portal and for certain certificate services at convenience stores, and now face-to-face checks are supported as well. A similar feature has been available on iPhone since last year.

マイナンバーカードを使った本人確認が20日からAndroidのスマートフォンでも可能になります。 古川デジタル大臣 「実物のカードを持ち歩くことが不要になるほか、これまで必要であった暗証番号の入力に代えて、生体認証を利用できるようになるなど、利便性が格段に向上致します」 　デジタル庁は20日、マイナンバーカードをAndroidのスマートフォンに搭載し、対面での本人確認や年齢確認に使える機能の提供を始めました。 　これまでAndroidのスマホでは、マイナポータルを通じた引っ越しや確定申告などのオンライン申請やコンビニ店で住民票の写しなどを発行するサービスは利用できましたが、機能を拡充しました。 　iPhone（アイフォーン）では昨年から同様の機能を提供していて、デジタル庁はマイナンバーカードのさらなる普及につなげたい考えです。 [テレ朝NEWS] https://news.tv-asahi.co.jp
