Naha Hotel Woman Killing: US Marine Indicted for Robbery-Murder

Prosecutors in Naha have indicted a US Marine Corps lance corporal from Futenma Air Station in Okinawa on charges of robbery-murder. According to the indictment, the suspect killed a woman at a hotel in Naha on the 3rd of this month and took her wallet and other belongings. The suspect initially denied the charges after his arrest but later made statements hinting at parts of the crime. Police also found that he returned to the base after the incident.

那覇市内のホテルで女性が殺害され財布などが奪われた事件で、那覇地検はアメリカ海兵隊員の男を強盗殺人の罪で起訴しました。 　起訴状などによりますと、沖縄・普天間基地所属のアメリカ海兵隊・上等兵、デビン・バラード被告（20）は今月3日、那覇市内のホテルで、殺意を持って女性の首を圧迫して殺害したうえ、財布などを奪ったとされています。 　バラード被告は逮捕時の取り調べに対し容疑を否認していましたが、その後、一部犯行をほのめかす供述もしていたということです。 　また、警察によりますと、バラード被告が事件後に基地内へ戻っていたことも分かりました。 　那覇地検は「今後、公判において、法と証拠に基づき、的確な主張、立証に力を尽くして参りたい」とコメントしています。 [テレ朝NEWS] https://news.tv-asahi.co.jp
