Okinawa: US Marine arrested for suspected drunk driving during US soldiers' curfew hours

A US Marine corporal was arrested in Okinawa City on suspicion of drunk driving during hours when US forces had restricted off-base movement for soldiers stationed in Okinawa Prefecture. The restriction followed a robbery-murder of a woman in Naha the previous month. According to police, the suspect, who was at the scene of a hit-and-run case, was found to have alcohol at more than twice the standard level. He admits the charge, and police are also investigating any link to the hit-and-run.

先月に那覇市で発生した女性への強盗殺人事件を受けてアメリカ兵の外出が禁止されていた時間帯に、沖縄市で海兵隊の男が酒気帯び運転の疑いで現行犯逮捕されました。 　警察によりますと、アメリカ海兵隊の伍長、カルビン・モントヤ・カルドナ容疑者（21）は先月31日午前0時半ごろ、沖縄市で酒気帯び運転をした疑いで現行犯逮捕されました。 　警察が車への当て逃げ事件の現場にいたモントヤ・カルドナ容疑者を検査したところ、基準値の2倍を超えるアルコールが検出されました。 　容疑を認めていて、警察は当て逃げ事件との関連も調べています。 　アメリカ軍は女性への強盗殺人事件を受け、沖縄県に駐留する兵士に午前0時から5時までの外出を禁止していました。 [テレ朝NEWS] https://news.tv-asahi.co.jp
