Zelensky to award Melania Trump medal for Oleshky ceasefire

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a decree to award a medal to Melania Trump, wife of US President Donald Trump, for brokering a ceasefire with Russia over the southern city of Oleshky. Local media reported that the honour was given for her major contribution to humanitarian aid in Ukraine. Melania Trump had urged a temporary halt in fighting in Oleshky, Kherson region, where food shortages had led to famine-like conditions. The pause ran for six days from October 27, and according to Melania Trump about 800 residents were evacuated.

ウクライナのゼレンスキー大統領は南部・オレシュキを巡るロシアとの停戦を仲介したアメリカのトランプ大統領の妻・メラニア夫人に勲章を授与すると発表しました。 　現地メディアによりますと、ゼレンスキー大統領はメラニア夫人が「ウクライナへの人道支援に多大な貢献をした」として、4日までに勲章を授与する大統領令に署名しました。 　メラニア夫人は食料不足などから飢餓状態に陥っていたウクライナ南部・ヘルソン州オレシュキでの一時停戦を働き掛けました。 　この一時停戦は10月27日から6日間にわたって実施され、メラニア夫人によりますと、住民約800人が避難したということです。 　メラニア夫人は5日にロシアとウクライナの代表をホワイトハウスに招待し、今回の停戦に関して演説する予定です。 [テレ朝NEWS] https://news.tv-asahi.co.jp
