RBI's new checklist: closer scrutiny of Indian companies' overseas investments

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is tightening its oversight of growing overseas investments by Indian companies. According to a reported Economic Times story, companies will have to explain the rationale, valuation, financial risks and potential benefits to India for large foreign deals. The RBI has given banks a detailed checklist to review such transactions. Investments above one billion dollars and those exceeding four times a company's net worth will face special scrutiny.
