Residential Cruise Ship Suspends Operations Over Fuel Costs, Passengers Disembarked in Cambodia
A residential cruise ship, where passengers rent or buy cabins for long-term stays, has suspended operations because of rising fuel costs. The operating company said the vessel, which had been travelling worldwide for about 755 days, would stop service and passengers would be disembarked in Cambodia. The captain said fuel reserves had reached a critical level, and 203 passengers were required to leave the ship. Monthly fuel costs per cabin reportedly rose from an average of about 280,000 yen to around 1 million yen recently, linked to worsening conditions in Iran.
