Robotaxi test run: AI-equipped self-driving car demonstrated at LDP headquarters
A test ride of an AI-equipped self-driving car was held at the headquarters of Japan's Liberal Democratic Party. The vehicle carries AI from the UK startup wayve and is due to begin robotaxi test operations in Tokyo within the year, in partnership with Nissan and Uber. Former Digital Minister Takuya Hirai said after the ride that the technology would soon be installed in all vehicles. The system, described as "Level 2++", can drive with minimal driver input, using information from six cameras.
